ABOUT ALL SOULS

Our Mission & Values

  • Gathering into Christ.
    Sending into the World.

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we are called to be a local parish of the Anglican Church for Lexington, South Carolina and the surrounding areas that witnesses to the Gospel and makes disciples of Jesus Christ by gathering all people to him through ministries of word, sacrament, and fellowship, and sending them out into vocations of love in the world.

  • The Holy Scriptures
The Old and New Testaments of Holy Scripture read in light of the great Christian tradition are the ultimate authority in our church.

    The Sacraments
We are a sacramental church that believes that God works through ordinary means to accomplish his purpose in the world.

    Unmerited Grace
God’s amazing grace for sinners is central to everything. Our salvation is based entirely on what God has done for us through Jesus Christ.

    The Local Parish
Real love must be exercised in real, local settings. The local parish is the focus of our ministry and it is where we walk with Jesus together.

    Patient Discipleship
Discipleship is a process of coming to Jesus as the center. This takes a lifetime and we are comfortable to patiently keep in step with the Holy Spirit.

    The Anglican Tradition
We follow Jesus according to the ancient traditions as they have been handed down to us through the Anglican Church. This give us deep roots and stability over a lifetime.

    Love Across Difference
Our church will seek to exercise self-giving love toward those with whom we disagree. While we will never abandon our commitment to Scripture and the tradition we have received as a church, we will seek to love each other across our differences.

OUR STORY

In the Fall of 2018, members from Church of the Apostles (COTA) in Columbia, SC sensed the need for a new Anglican parish in the growing suburb of Lexington. In that same year, Fr. Josh Fink and his family had joined COTA, where Josh would serve as the new Vicar for Church Planting. After some discussions and a lot of prayer, the announcement was made that we would begin the long process of building a new church in Lexington, and our first info meeting was held in January of 2019.

Over that year, we began to grow as a mission team, worshiping together and getting to know one another. In time, the Lord led us to Heritage Christian Academy, who graciously allowed us to meet in their chapel on Sunday mornings. Others from Lexington began to join and, on September 15, 2019, All Souls Church was officially established as an Anglican mission parish for Lexington, SC.

Like many churches, we went through a lot over those early years, from persevering through the 2020 pandemic to navigating life and faith in an increasingly divided. Nevertheless, by God's amazing grace and the power of the Holy Spirit, the work of building an Anglican church in Lexington, SC continued undaunted.

In 2023, All Souls took responsibility for its own finances and government with a wonderful send off from Church of the Apostles. Our first vestry was formed that year, and in the spring of 2024, All Souls was received into The Anglican Diocese of the Carolinas as a full member parish. Fr. Josh was installed as the first rector later that year.

As we look to the future, we are excited by the mission to be a witness to the gospel of God’s amazing grace and to make disciples of Jesus by gathering people in through ministries of word, sacrament, fellowship, healing, and prayer and to send them out into vocations of love in the world.
